Training For the Ragnar
My sisters and I are all signed up to run the Ragnar Relay race. The race starts in Logan and ends is Park City. It is 200 miles and there are 12 people on each team. 6 girls will ride in one van, and 6 in the other. We each run three times, totaling from 13-18 miles each. My routes are 7.8, 2.8 and 3.3 miles. These are all done within a 24 hour period. Training started about 9 weeks ago. I started by just running a couple miles every other day, then 3 every other day, then 3 or 4. After 8 weeks I tried 5 and 6 miles. The last couple weeks I have been running 4 or 5 miles and then on the weekend running a six or 7 miler. My goal will be to be able to run an easy ten miles without stopping at a 9.5min/mile pace. I think once I can run ten miles comfortably, I will be ready. It is crazy how hard 3 miles was to run at first and now I can go out and run 5.5 miles as fast as I can, and its so easy! It is all about consistency. This weekend I am going to try to run 8 miles at a 10.5min/mile pace. WHOOT WHOOT! I'll let you know how it goes.
