Baby Boy on the Way!

We are so excited to announce that this June we are expecting a boy!!! He is due June 24th.

Here he is before we knew he was a boy. This was at ten weeks. I went in to the FNP and she didn't even try to listen for a heart beat. I asked her why and she said it was too early. She could tell I was disappointed, so tried anyway. She couldn't find the heartbeat, which made me nervous, so she let me go down to the ultrasound tech and check out the baby. There he was. Perfect little heartbeat!!!

At twenty weeks we got to go in for another ultrasound. This time to find out the gender. These are the pictures from that. The first thing she said was, "Well, do you want to know the gender, because I found it!" I was like, "Its a boy right?" She turned the screen and, yup! Definitely a boy! He was sitting down but she still got a great shot.
Sean and I couldn't believe it was a boy! Just because we have Kenzie and all we know is girl stuff. We love how cuddly and sweet she is. She'll just sit on your lap and love you. Is that how boys are?

Funny note: When she said it was a boy, I said, "Wow, that's Nuts!" thinking how crazy it was to get a boy! And of course Sean says out loud, "Literally!" I go bright red, but thankfully the room was dark. (Just a little boy joke!;))

She did a great job of showing us his sweet face."Hi, Daddy!"

It was great to share the news about a boy with the family. The next day the doctor called and said she needed to talk about what they saw on the ultrasound. The tech said she would only call if there was a problem, so my heart sank! She said they found a white spot on his heart...which could be a heart defect or even a sign of Downs Syndrome. So after a lot of prayers and tears worrying about our sweet baby boy, I went to a cardiologist. I got to see the baby's heart close up. It was incredible. She said it was perfect in every way. The spot they saw was just some fibers grouped together, that will slowly spread out. We were so happy to hear that! Then, I had to go see a genetic counselor and a ultrasound doctor who specializes in disorders. After making me explain my ENTIRE family's medical history (and I mean uncles, cousins, everything...) she said that the chances were slim that there was a problem. Then I had an intense ultrasound to look for other signs of Downs. He looked perfect!!! They still gave me a 1 in 350 just because there was that spot. (Echogenic Focus.) Here are the pictures from that ultrasound.

Of course, without asking, he drew on them...
And another shot that he's a BOY!
After all the drama, I think our family and drawn closer together. It put everything in perspective. I love my little family so much. Children are such a blessing. I can't believe a get to have two!

  2. this reminds me of our experience with Lily and finding out that there was something wrong with her heart and then somehow (wink, wink) nothing! I'm so glad that things are going to be alright and that you are having a little boy, how exciting! I definitely know what you mean only knowing girl things. :) good luck in the weeks to come!
