McKenzie turns ONE!

We have had a great couple of weeks. We went to California to visit his family. We got to visit the boat and ocean, which is all I really wanted to do! it wasn't warm enough to swim in the ocean, but we did have a fun time on the board walk.

We bought her a little flotation seat so she could be a little more independent, and she just wanted to lay down in it and fall asleep. It could be that the water was so warm, it was putting her to sleep. Sunday was her FIRST BIRTHDAY! That is right! Little McKenzie turned 1 years old. I can't believe it has been one year since she entered the world. That brings back so many memories of that day. "The best day of our lives!" See that day's story here: McKenzie is Born

We had a fun birthday party for her. Lisa made her the cutest birthday hat and we we let her destroy her birthday cake. At first she just slowly licked away at the frosting, which she totally loved. She wouldn't dig into the cake and get the good stuff, so we cut her a piece. She loved it!...what did you expect, right? Next, she opened her presents and got a cute toy kitchen! It is her favorite thing to play with now. We love her so much and are so glad she made it a whole year. It has been the best year of my life!

As of last week she can officially walk across the room! It was crazy but she really did learn to walk the weekend of her first birthday. She took her first steps about two months ago, but she is really moving now! She can't walk more than across the room, which is fine with me. I am not looking forward to running after her everywhere! But, it would be nice not to have to hold her so much! My poor, aching back! She can also point to people (how rude) snuggle, give hugs, eat pretty much anything, (even though she still only has two teeth), stand up on her own, climb up the stairs and pt herself to sleep. What a big girl!
