Sleep Training Begins

Here is a log of the last three nights of my plan to teach McKenzie to fall asleep on her own.

March 27th -Last night I decided to let Kenzie cry herself to sleep. I decided it is the only way to teach babies to fall asleep on their own. I put her to bed at 7, she woke up at 8, i nursed her, put her to sleep, she woke up at 10 30. I patted her to sleep. She woke at 3 and i let her cry it out for an hour. She woke up at 7.

March 28th-Today she took a nap at 10:30. - 11:45 (1 hour 15 min)

How? I knew she was tired, fed her, clean diaper, crib, went in every two minutes and put her back down from standing up. It took 20 minutes and she was asleep. It was very hard, but i could tell she understood that she should just go to sleep because I wasn't going to pick her up.

Early afternoon nap: started trying at 2 40-3:00 It took her twenty minutes to fall asleep. I took her down from the railing and patted her every time she got up. I think I need to pat less. Don't force her to lay down. Try it 6 six times and if she still stands, let her stand for 3 minutes and try again.She slept from 3:00-4:15

Bedtime routine should start at 7 and be sleeping by 7 30.
7:00 bath
7:10 lotion, diaper, pjs,
7:15 stories
7:20 nurse
730 put in crib

Tonight she was asleep by 7 42: took 22 minutes for her to cry and put her
still asleep at 9 30, mom went to bed. Plan for the night, if she cries, wait three minutes, to the room and put her down over and over 6 times, let her stand for three min and start over. I need to pat for ten sec and then stop. woke up at 1130, 12, 1, 2, 3, 4 slept until 7 20

March 30th - Morning Nap: started ritual( story and nursing) at 10, asleep at 10 45-11 40 (30 minutes to fall asleep) slept for just under and hour.

nap 1 30-320 took 15 minutes, she feel asleep without patting, i just kept putting her down.

Sean put McKenzie to sleep tonight. I told him what to do and left the room. I was surprised when she stopped crying after 2 minutes. I thought Sean must have rocked or patted her to sleep and I was ready to get really mad at him for breaking the plan. When he came out he said that she just laid down after two minutes and fell asleep herself! Way to go Dad and baby. What time did she wake up next? 4 30!!! I think she finally gets how to put herself to sleep because I heard her wake up a bunch of times, but never cried, so she must have gone back to sleep. Hopefully she will keep up with this. I think it helped that her Dad was next to the crib because she knew he would not feed her. She kept waking up after 4 30, so I wonder if 7 30 is too early? I will try it again tonight and see if she wakes up too early again.
