Bun in the Oven!

As everyone knows, Sean and I are expecting a baby on May 14th. I am finally in my second trimester...14 weeks! I just wanted to write about some of my feeling being pregnant.

First: How we found out!

We had decided to try for a baby, but it was only the first month, so we weren't expecting anything. One night I had a feeling that we should go get a test. Sean thought I was crazy because there was no way we were pregnant yet. I kept persisting, and we ran to the store moments before it closed. I waited until the morning to test, I couldn't sleep and woke up at 5. The results showed up within seconds! I ran and told sleeping Sean that we were pregnant. I THINK he was surprised, but still asleep. When he woke up more, we got really excited! We quickly figured out the due date that morning.

First Doctor's Appointment:

I had the first appointment at 9 weeks. It was the most amazing thing in the world. The nurse did an ultrasound. When we finally found the little gummy bear and I saw the heart beating, I broke out into tears! The baby was moving and jumping everywhere. I could see little fingers and toes. We looked at every little part of the baby. I have never seen anything so amazing! The picture that I posted is from that ultrasound. It is not exactly what I saw. In this picture, you can't see the details that you could see when it was moving.

Second Appointment:

I was so nervous because I didn't have any symptoms like morning sickness, so I wasn't sure that the baby was still kickin. When I went in, they said my blood pressure was elevated and they would check it again at the end. I got to hear the heartbeat through a little Doppler machine. It was at 160 beats per minute. It was a relief to finally hear it again. They took my blood pressure and it was still high. They said I should come back on Monday and try again, but if it was sill high, I would be put on meds. I was so scared of the thought of being put on meds! I went in Monday, even more nervous, and of course it was really high. I told a nurse how nervous I was, and she helped me calm down. She took it and it was way low. No worries, just nerves. Next appointment, I need to CALM DOWN!

Telling People:

This is the funnest thing in the world. We first told our parents. They were so excited for us! Four weeks later, we told all of our family and last week I told the people I work with. It is fun getting advise and seeing people's reactions.

Symptoms:

I get really hungry at night, I cry all the time (Sean will say: "She did that before") and I am always sleepy. I usually go to bed at 8. That is about it. My tummy has definitely grown. I don't think it is the baby, but my waist line is gone, and my stomach sticks out. I can't wait until the bump is actually the baby. It feels like that will never happen.

One-third done, but we can't wait any longer!
